THE AUTHOR


Aimee Zaring has an M.F.A. in Writing from Spalding University and a B.A. in English and Psychology from Bellarmine University. She is the recipient of two artist enrichment grants from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, the latter which assisted the writing of The Kitchen Refuge.   

She has taught ESL (English as a Second Language) for over five years through Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, and Jefferson County Public Schools.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, her writing (including interviews, essays, and short fiction) has appeared in Edible Louisville, Adirondack Review, Arts Across Kentucky, Blood Lotus, New Southerner, The Rumpus Review, and the anthology New Growth. Her book reviews have appeared in The Lexington-Herald and The Courier-Journal.

In her spare time, Aimee likes to travel, study other languages, cook, and read. She also TRIES to play golf and piano.
